Born in 1994 in Paris (France)
Born in Paris in 1994, Jules Bourbon works at the crossroads of cinema and contemporary art, combining video, installation, photography and writing. He graduated from the Villa Arson in 2019 and then from the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2023. There he worked in the studios of Hélène Delprat and Clément Cogitore, before entering Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains in 2024.
Writing plays a central part in his approach. Nourished by the everyday and the banal, he sets out to film and tell the story of what is repeated, what accumulates and what, at first glance, seems insignificant.
His work has been shown at a number of venues and events, including the “Waiting Room” exhibition at the Fondation Pernod Ricard, the 45th Cinéma du Réel festival at the Centre Pompidou, and the 68th Salon de Montrouge.
In 2022, he won the Thaddaeus Ropac Prize. In 2023, he was selected for the 10th Révélations Emerige prize with Galerie Nathalie Obadia as his partner, and received the Villa Noailles special jury prize.
